This workshop will introduce participants to studio letterpress printing using wood type and lead type, on tabletop platen and proofing presses. You will also learn the art of Solarplate printmaking, a quick, non-toxic relief process which can be used to create images for letterpress printmaking. All paper, ink, and other materials will be provided. Participants will create a printed graphic ephemera. There will be a break for lunch from 12:30 to 1:30, so please plan accordingly. Please wear an apron and/or old clothes (ink and grease abounds) and comfortable shoes (you will be standing all day). All proceeds are tax deductible and will go to the Birmingham AIGA.
