WordPress is a blog publishing application that allows site owners to easily update content on the web. As of September 2009, Wordpress is used by 62.8 million websites in the US making it one of the most commonly used content management systems on the Internet.

Speaker: Sara Cannon

Sara holds the position of designer/interactive at Scout Branding Company. She loves all things interactive and is deeply committed to excellence in using the latest web technology, user experience, client experience, and design. She loves to push the boundaries on web typography and see good ideas come to life. She is also an avid WordPress guru and loves making sites run on the open source platform, while still making them look like a million bucks. Her web expertise includes: Flash, xml, html, php, and MySQL. Sara also loves working on different print and logo projects.

Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, she came to the South and graduated with a BS from Samford University in Art with a concentration in Graphic Design. She is a member of the Internet Society of Alabama (IPSA), Catalyst for Birmingham, and is a founding member of the Birmingham Art Collective. In her spare time, (if she has any), Sara loves to make art and put on shows with other community artists.

Sara has recently spoke at the September IPSA Meeting on "Interactive Branding and Typography Tips" and as well at Wordcamp Brimingham on "Wordpress and Your Brand"
