AIGA Birmingham invites students from the region to participate in the 15th Annual Student Portfolio Review. The review will take place Saturday April 14, 2018 from 12 noon to 3:30 pm on the UAB campus, at the Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts (AEIVA).
Approximately 20 professionals, including graphic designers, art directors, and multimedia designers will be on hand to review student work. Over the years we've had hundreds of students participate, including those from Samford University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the University of Montevallo, Jacksonville State University, other universities across the state including Auburn University and Alabama A&M University, and Mississippi as well.
How do I register?
Click on the "Register Now" button to pay with PayPal. Registering online before the event is highly recommended. If you prefer to register at the door when you arrive, you may do so, however pre-registered students will have priority. AIGA Birmingham will attempt to accommodate everyone.
Having trouble registering online?
Email email@example.com with the following information: your name, the event (AIGA Student Portfolio Review), if you are an AIGA member or not, your email address, and your mailing address. We will then put you on the registered list, and you will pay your registration fee with cash or cards at the door.
What is the cost?
$5 for student AIGA members and $15 for non-member students with ID.
How many creatives can I have review my portfolio?
The review will last for 3 hours. Each session at a table with a reviewer is 30 minutes long. Students will sign-up for one reviewer at a time, and may be able to return to the registration desk after a review to sign-up for a total of three reviewers or more, depending on the number of students attending.
What should I bring?
You will need a portfolio, either a physical one or one accessible on your own [laptop/tablet], containing 10-15 pieces of your best work, along with a [printed] resume. Be prepared to discuss your work
Where can I park?
Parking is available on campus behind the AEIVA building. Please park in Lot 15D off 13th St. South and 11th Ave. South. No permit is required to park in this lot on Saturday.
