2023 AIGA Birmingham Student Portfolio Review

About this event

The review will take place on Saturday April 08, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the University of Montevallo campus in Peterson Hall.

Approximately 20 to 30 professionals, including graphic designers, art directors, UI/UX and multimedia designers will be on hand to review student work. Over the years, we’ve had hundreds of students participate, including those from the University of Montevallo, Samford University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Jacksonville State University, other universities across the state, including Auburn University, Alabama A&M University, and Mississippi universities as well.

Who can register? Current students or recent graduate (last semester).

How do I register? Buy your ticket to register and reserve your spot online through Eventbrite. Registering online before the event is highly recommended. If you prefer to register at the door when you arrive, you may do so, but we do not recommend waiting. Pre-registered students will have priority. AIGA Birmingham will attempt to accommodate everyone. If you are a student non-member, please bring a valid and current student ID to the door the day of the event.

How much does it cost? Free for members. $10 for non-members. If you want to become a AIGA BHM member JOIN HERE!

How many creatives can I have review my portfolio? The review will last for 3 hours. Each session at a table with a reviewer is 30 minutes long. Students will sign-up for one reviewer at a time, and may be able to return to the registration desk after a review to sign-up for a total of three reviewers or more, depending on the number of students attending.

What should I bring? You will need a portfolio, either a physical one or one accessible on your own laptop/tablet, containing 10-15 pieces of your best work, along with a copy of your printed resume. Be prepared to discuss your work.

Where can I park? Parking is available on campus behind Peterson Hall. No permit is required to park in this lot on Saturday. To locate this parking lot, please utilize the campus map by CLICKING HERE. Then select Peterson Hall from drop down menu.
